Intel NUC and Ubuntu 16.04

So there is almost no information out there on this and I finally discovered the answer last night late.   If you are using an intel NUC 7th or 8th gen  you need to download 16.04.6 installer and on install use the alternate kernel.   you need a Linux Kernel revision higher than 4.13 and 16.04.6 has 4.15 as an alternate.

This has the drivers for the NUC hardware.  the standard 4.4 does not.

Searching the googles and intertubes does not give you this clear answer.  And yes sometimes you do need to run an "out of date" Linux.  I have a specific service/software that I need to run that is not ready to support Ubuntu 18LTS yet.
